No water or heat in the Tardis? Ian was really just going to leave Barbara behind? "The old man has the mountain sickness" wow it sure didn't take long for the Doctor to get sick. How did the Doctor and Susan ever survive before Ian and Barbara? 75 year old to marry a 16 year old? I'm watching the loose cannon BW recons for this watch through.

The series is already becoming very formulaic. Three of the four arcs so far are: the group goes somewhere, they are taken prisoner, can’t get to the Tardis, and try to escape. The writers need to start showing some imagination if they want me to get much farther.

Agree that the CD set is excellent, and I also like Ian Levine’s AI reconstruction.

This story, more than any other, I would love to see returned to the BBC. In the past, I've watched the Loose Cannon reconstruction and the 30-minute edited version, but this time I decided to listen to the audio version with linking narration since I purchased the five-volume 'The Lost TV Episodes' CDs a couple of years ago. This story is narrated by William Russell, and it's brilliant...

NGL, it's a shame that this is and many other Hartnell & Troughton episodes are missing as a result of the BBC's tendency to junking tapes in the 60s and 70s.

Thankfully, the fact that audio recordings exist of all missing episodes means we're able to experience them, albeit in a limited fashion.

SUSAN: "Oh, I think it's fab." I really enjoyed this, I watched an animation of this first episode I found on Youtube. It was really good but only had this first episode.

The twist was good.

The story was quite ok too. I've always been a fan of Nu-Who stories that introduce historical figures (I know I might be on the minority there) and this one with Marco Polo is already quite good.

Watched a reproduction of this on YouTube. Decent story. Not the biggest fan of the historic stories early on but they do get better at them.

Must admit I’ve never seen this in full as I usually only stick with the abridged version on the DVD, this is a good start, although I really wish it wasn’t wiped out, as the set designs and costume work looks incredible, and seeing that in motion would probably increase my rating.

It gets a extra star for the doctor becoming hysterical at the end.
